Shipping and Returns

Orders are processed within 1-3 business days and entrusted to the most suitable courier based on the destination and type of package.

Bell X-1A: Beyond the Limits of Supersonic Flight

The Bell X-1A, an advanced version of the legendary X-1, was designed to break new barriers, aiming for speeds in excess of Mach 2 and altitudes above 90,000 feet. With a lengthened fuselage to hold more fuel, a raised canopy for better visibility, and the powerful Reaction Motors XLR-11 rocket engine, the X-1A was built to push the boundaries of high-speed flight.

His most famous flight occurred on December 12, 1953, when Chuck Yeager set a record by reaching Mach 2.44. Soon after, however, he experienced the terrifying phenomenon of inertia coupling, which sent the plane into an uncontrolled spin, but he miraculously regained control. In 1954, Arthur β€œKit” Murray reached the impressive altitude of 90,440 feet, setting a new altitude record.

Tragically, the X-1A was lost in an explosion in 1955, but its pioneering flights provided crucial data that shaped the future of supersonic aviation.
