Vintage t-shirt from the early 90s dedicated to the legendary British Sidecar World Champions Steve Webster & Gavin Simmons. This front and back graphic celebrates one of the most successful teams in the history of the FIM Sidecar World Championship, depicting their iconic Silkolene, Krauser, Levior, and Avon-sponsored racing motorcycle, accompanied by the Union Jack and graphics in perfect Eighties racing style.

Printed on an authentic Screen Stars blank, it features a vibrant original screen print on both sides with colors that are still very bright. Story Time

The art of racing on three wheels

Steve Webster's rise to prominence is one of the most extraordinary stories in sidecar racing. He debuted in 1980 at Elvington Airfield, far from the prestige of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, and within a few years, he reached the World Championship. What set him apart was not just speed, but above all, precision: in sidecar racing, driver and passenger must move as one body, balancing a machine that is part motorcycle, part race car, and completely unforgiving.

By the late 1980s, Webster had become the benchmark in the discipline, winning three consecutive world titles from 1987 to 1989 with LCR sidecars. Gavin "Gavi" Simmons began joining him around that time, participating in their first races together in 1988, before becoming an increasingly important figure in Webster's career in the early 1990s. This detail is significant because Simmons was not merely a last-minute passenger added to a winning team: he was already part of Webster's inner circle during his best years, learning the speed, mutual trust, and enormous physical commitment required at the highest levels.

Their most significant collaboration came in 1991, when Webster chose Simmons as his main passenger after years with Tony Hewitt. The transition was far from smooth: right from their first season, they brought Webster back to the top of the World Championship, winning prestigious races, including Laguna Seca in the United States, and putting Great Britain back at the forefront of sidecar racing after the 1990 title had been won by Alain Michel and Simon Birchall. Simmons had already raced alongside Webster since 1988, but 1991 was the year that bond took on historical importance. With the LCR-Krauser 500 cc sidecar, the two together won the world title, giving Webster his fourth championship and Simmons the success that would define his entire racing career.
