STORY TIME
In just two seasons, the Atlanta Braves went from last place to winning back-to-back National League titles, completing one of the greatest transformations in baseball history.

In 1991, after years of losing, the Braves surprised the world by winning 94 games and clinching the NL West. Led by young pitchers Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, and Steve Avery, along with MVP Terry Pendleton and emerging hitters Ron Gant and David Justice, they won the heart of the city. Their playoff run ended with a dramatic World Series loss to the Twins, but Atlanta had finally found a winning team, and the fans erupted behind the famous Tomahawk Chop.

In 1992, the Braves proved it wasn't a fluke, winning 98 games and wowing fans with the exploits of two-sport athlete Deion Sanders and Otis Nixon's acrobatic catch against the wall. The climax came with "The Slide," Sid Bream's game-winning run in Game 7 of the NLCS. Although they lost the World Series again, their resilience inspired millions.

Story Time

The Golden Age of the Braves: The 1990s ⚾✨

In the 1990s, the Atlanta Braves went from bottom of the league to a true baseball dynasty. After finishing last in 1990, the team hired general manager John Schuerholz and brought back manager Bobby Cox. In 1991, the Braves shocked the world: they won 94 games and reached the World Series, becoming the first team ever to go from last to first place in a single season.

From 1991 to 1999, the Braves dominated the National League, winning their division in every full season. Their crowning achievement came in 1995, when they won the World Series, Atlanta's first major professional sports title. Led by legendary pitchers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz, along with stars like Chipper Jones, Fred McGriff, and David Justice, the Braves became known for their elite pitching and crucial hitting.

Iconic moments include Sid Bream's famous slide in the 1992 NLCS, Tom Glavine's remarkable performance in the 1995 World Series, and Chipper Jones' rise to MVP status. With nightly broadcasts on TBS and the famous (and controversial) Tomahawk Chop, the Braves built a nationwide fan base and earned the nickname "America's Team."
