American ringer tee from the late ’70s or the very early ’80s, made for Ozark Vineyard in Chestnutridge, Missouri. Made on a vintage Sportswear blank, with the original Made in USA tag and a tri-blend of 50% polyester, 38% cotton and 12% rayon.
This kind of fabric was especially common in American promotional clothing of the time and is much sought after today for its soft, light, slightly stretchy hand. The oatmeal heather base is finished with contrasting dark brown collar and sleeve trims, in the classic ringer construction typical of the ’70s.
The front has a multicolor graphic for Ozark Vineyard, with a bunch of grapes, a barrel, floral elements and retro-style script lettering. The print appears to be a screen print and shows natural surface wear consistent with the garment’s age, without affecting legibility or visual impact.
The construction, the Sportswear tag, US production, the tri-blend fabric and the apparently single stitch hem most likely place this tee between 1978 and 1983. An authentic example of American regional merchandise, interesting both to wear and as a collectible tied to wine culture, US souvenirs and vintage commercial graphics.
