Rare vintage 90s NBA t-shirt made during the Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz. This shirt was created as a parody tee, imagining a Utah Jazz victory against the Bulls, an event that never actually happened, making it a curious and very interesting piece for NBA collectors today.

The graphic shows a red bull being "delivered" and the text:

“The Bulls Have Been Stocked, Dawged, Russellled, Tagged, Dehorned, and Delivered!!!”

The text satirizes the Bulls' dominance and subverts the narrative of the time in an anti-Chicago way. This type of satirical merchandising was very popular during the 1997–1998 NBA Finals.

Printed on a Fruit of the Loom Heavy Cotton blank, 100% cotton with multicolour screen printing. The "Assembled in El Salvador of U.S.A. Components" label confirms typical production from the second half of the 90s.

Story Time

The T-shirt that predicted the wrong NBA champion

This shirt was most likely printed before the end of the 1998 NBA Finals, assuming a Utah Jazz victory over Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.

The slogan is built entirely around the players on that Jazz roster. "STOCKED" alludes to Hall of Famer John Stockton, "DAWGED" to Antoine "Big Dawg" Carr, "RUSSELLED" to Bryon Russell, "TAGGED" is almost certainly a reference to center Greg Ostertag, while "DELIVERED" refers to Karl Malone, nicknamed "The Mailman" because, as Jazz commentators often said, "The Mailman delivers."

Together, the shirt tells a precise story: the Jazz had "stocked," "dawged," "russelled," and "delivered" the Bulls to defeat. The graphics also reinforce the concept, showing the Bulls literally slaughtered and stripped of their horns.

But none of this actually happened.

The Finals instead ended with one of the most iconic sequences in NBA history: Jordan stole the ball from Karl Malone, passed Bryon Russell on the next play, scored "The Last Shot" in Game 6, and claimed the Bulls' sixth title.

And this is precisely what makes this T-shirt historically interesting today. In the 90s, Finals merchandise was often produced in advance for both possible champion teams, so it could be immediately put on sale at the end of the series. The winning team's merchandise quickly hit stores, while the losing team's was destroyed, abandoned, or never officially distributed. Even small local screen printers or unofficial vendors did the same, especially around arenas and in parking lots.

This shirt is most likely one of those rare survivors: a piece of merchandise created for an NBA ending that never existed.
