Original vintage tee made in 1987 to promote the theatrical release of Outrageous Fortune, the Touchstone Pictures comedy starring Bette Midler and Shelley Long. The front graphic shows the film title, the names of the two actresses, the ©1987 Touchstone Pictures copyright and the AMC Theatres logos, all pointing to an authentic promotional item handed out during the film’s original run.
The tee is made on an American Screen Stars blank, recognizable from the period tag, although it is now partly faded and worn. The fabric appears to be a classic 50% cotton and 50% polyester blend, widely used for US promo tees in the Eighties. Tubular body with no side seams, ribbed collar and a typically vintage fit.
The front print is multicolor in white and green. The natural cracking on the white letters is consistent with the aging of an authentic period print and adds to the archival character of the piece. This is not a modern reproduction with an artificial distressed effect.
The deep purple color, the movie graphic and the AMC branding make this tee especially interesting for collectors of movie memorabilia, fans of ’80s American cinema and collectors of Made in USA vintage. Promo tees for films that are rarely reprinted are generally harder to find than those for classic blockbusters.
